Health Benefits Of Dark Chocolate provides information and resources to learn the benefits, cautions, toxicity symptoms, and recommendations for this herb.

Health Benefits Of Dark Chocolate

Benefits And Uses For Dark Chocolate:

Yes...the candy.  The herb involved here, is Cocoa, known for centuries to be very beneficial to health...but hard to use as an herb because of its bitter taste.  Now, as the headlines have revealed, a candy is good for you.  Maybe those of us who know about licorice, Ginger or horehound aren't surprised.  Dark chocolate, like the Cocoa herb, has been found to lower blood pressure and protect against heart disease, aging, cold, flu and cancer.   This is due to the very high concentrations of Antioxidants in Chocolate.  The many beneficial chemicals in Chocolate include Copper, Flavonoids, Magnesium and Manganese.  Here are some of the latest books about the health benefits of dark chocolate.

Cautions And Toxicity (Overdose) Symptoms For Dark Chocolate:

Obviously, if you're allergic to chocolate...don't use it.  The only other caution is not to use too much Dark Chocolate, and to reduce your intake of calories and carbohydrates to prevent weight gain.  We should note that concentrated Cocoa supplements are very strong and should not be taken without the supervision of a doctor.

Supplements Of Dark Chocolate:

A typical serving is about an ounce of Dark Chocolate per day.  You can find Sugar Free Dark Chocolate that's actually fairly high in Fiber (3 grams) and low in calories (110) per serving.  This is probably the best way to supplement Dark Chocolate.  White and milk chocolates didn't provide the health benefits of Dark Chocolate.  We recommend you consult your doctor before using more than 1 serving per day of Dark Chocolate or using a Cocoa supplement.  If you're looking for a source, here are some dark chocolate supplement sources...always be sure to limit your sugar and fat intake.
