Benefits And Uses For Magnesium:

Magnesium is concentrated in the bone and muscles of the body.  It is essential in producing energy from proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.  It also acts as a natural tranquilizer.  Useful in treating malnutrition, burn victims, kidney stones, and some heart muscle diseases.  May be helpful in treating some forms of autism.

Deficiency Symptoms Of Magnesium:

Over use of Antibiotics can cause Magnesium deficiency (see Organic Germanium for possible alternative to antibiotics).  Diarrhea, poor diet, excessive alcohol intake and excessive Zinc intake  may also result in magnesium deficiency.  Symptoms include damaged blood vessels, brain damage, kidney damage, tremors, convulsions, depression, low energy, stunted growth and slow healing. 

Toxicity (Overdose) Symptoms Of Magnesium:

Toxicity is very rare and usually associated with kidney failure.  Symptoms include depression, paralysis, coma and death.

Foods Sources For Magnesium:

Bone meal, cereals, seafood, milk, eggs, dried beans, nuts, wheat, tomatoes, potatoes, brown sugar, peas, orange juice.

Supplements Of Magnesium:

The recommended amount of 1,000 mg per day can be obtained mostly from a balanced diet.  A natural multi-vitamin-mineral supplement can be used to make up for any deficiency.  When choosing a supplement, make sure it includes Calcium amounts at about 50 % the amount of  Magnesium, for proper balance.  Avoid multi-mineral supplements that include Iron because it cancels Magnesium.
