Benefits And Uses For Beta Carotene:

The body converts Beta Carotene to Vitamin A when needed for the immune system and other functions.  This is why another name for Beta Carotene is Pro-Vitamin A.  In addition to all the uses of Vitamin A, Beta Carotene seems to have a special role in helping prevent illness...particularly cancer.  Some study results suggest Bata Carotene may reduce the risk to lung cancer significantly, even among smokers.

None!  In fact, this is why many recommend Beta Carotene instead of taking a higher dose of Vitamin A.  That way, you get all the A you want without risking Toxicity.

Carrots, broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, cabbage, asparagus and other vegetables in much smaller amounts.

Supplements Of Beta Carotene:

While no recommended amount has been established, 25,000 IU daily may help in preventing many types of illness, from cold and flu to cancer.  For smokers, 50-75,000 IU per day may be wise.  Of course, there is no guarantee against getting cancer or any other illness.
