Many of the factors (some call causes) of Hypertension (high blood pressure) are interrelated, defying a single treatment. These factors tend to increase blood pressure: Too much weight, Caffeine drinks, alcoholism, high cholesterol, smoking, Diabetes and Stress. You can get prescriptions to control many of these factors along with the blood pressure, but all medicines have a downside (harmful side effects). Always follow your doctor's advice, but always ask if there are things you can do, short of taking another pill. Anything you can do to reduce or eliminate the need for those drugs is good. Note: I've taken Hypertension and cholesterol medicines for more than 5 years. Using diet, exercise, and nutrition, I've managed my Diabetes without meds. If I meet my goals this year, these medicines will become a thing of the past. Glen

3. Exercise helps reduce weight.
4. Exercise reduces stress (by producing a relaxing hormone).
5. Exercise helps control Diabetes, by burning blood fats and sugars.
