Savory Sour Dough Fingers Healthy Snack Recipe

Savory Sour Dough Fingers Snack Description:

These snacks are crispy and flavorful.  They're perfect for dipping or just eating dry.  Because sour dough is the lowest fat alternative in the breads, these snacks are very healthy.  Also, for those of you who are carb conscious, you can have about 10 fingers for one carb exchange.  What's not to love?  Just as a side point...because flavor is a very personal thing, I leave the amounts of flavorings up to you.  Just understand, the more cheese, the more fat and salt.

Ingredients:

Sliced sour dough bread (use the harder style for extra crunchy snack).

Canned unflavored cooking spray.

Grated low-fat "hard" cheese (parmesan, Romano or provolone)

Garlic powder.  (For variety, other flavor powders can be found in the spice section of your supermarket.  My favorites are Barbeque and Ranch)

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350.

Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray.

Cut about 8 bread slices in half and then cut each half into 5 finger-shaped pieces.

Spread bread pieces on cookie sheet, leaving a little space in-between.

Spray bread with cooking spray, sprinkle with garlic powder and cheese, and spray again.

Bake for 5 minutes or until edges are crisp to touch and cheese is lightly browned.

Cool and place in zip lock storage bag.

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
