Your teeth may get stained due to a variety of reasons. One of the most important reasons is the consumption of food and drinks. Drinks like tea, coffee and red wine will stain your teeth if used for large intervals of time. Smoking can create accumulation if nicotine on the tooth surface and this can make your teeth yellow. These types of stains are called extrinsic stains. In addition to this there is yet another type of stain that is developed due to fluoride deposits that occurs as your teeth grow older. Sometimes due to genetic factors your teeth may turn yellow at an early age. They are called intrinsic stains. Intrinsic stains are embedded deep within your teeth and will be very difficult to remove. Meanwhile extrinsic stains can be removed by bleaching or laser whitening process.
Laser Whitening is the safest and fastest method to accentuate the coloring of your teeth. Your teeth will appear more white and shinier within 45 minutes. During this process a gel containing hydrogen peroxide will be applied to the surface of the teeth. This gel is activated by an LED light which shone on it for about 45 minutes. This will disintegrate the dental stains and your teeth will be whitened in no time. The amount of whitening will depend on your natural teeth structure and the extent of stain penetration. Before the whitening process you are advised to go for a routine checkup with a dental hygienist who can determine the level of sensitivity of your teeth.
